Founded from the Blue Lion Bar & Restaurant, Witherley, Blue Lion Golf society was created in 2015 to bring local golfers together. Over a decade later and the society has changed dramatically, with over 50 members, a range of venues across the country a bi-annual Ryder Cup format event taking us to resorts around the world.
We’re fortunate to partner with brands that help keep this society running, with VPAR as our official scoring platform, ColdeRove Wines as prize suppliers and of course Blue Lion Witherley.
Blue Lion Golf caters for players of all abilities, with handicaps ranging from single figures limited to 28. As a society we are proud of the community we have built with our players, providing a fun and enjoyable platform to play golf together whilst maintaining the competitive element the game desires.

Handicaps
Handicaps are limited to a maximum of 28. Handicaps are adjusted based on a player’s finishing position each event, with 10% of the field (rounded) either being cut 1 shot or gaining 1 shot (e.g in a field of 12 players, the first and last placed players would have their handicaps adjusted, in a field of 18 the top two & bottom two players are adjusted)
OOM
The order of merit is calculated throughout the year, with all individual player events counting towards the points total. A player’s total points is calculated from their Top 4 finishing positions, with a tiered points system depending on their finishing position per event. Maximum points allocation is 400 points, 100 points per win, 4 wins.
